GRAPHIC PRODUCTION SERVICES

	DESIGN Our production artists use the most up-to-date graphics software on projects ranging from business cards and brochures to books and catalogs. We know how to organize a project efficiently, produce it quickly, and anticipate potential problems before ink hits paper. Some projects may require the development of a design concept and all the elements such as logos and style guides that go into realizing the design concept in a consistent way. Other clients may have an existing library of electronic art and files such as stationery packages and business cards. We can archive these files and produce updates and modifications as needed.
	TYPOGRAPHY Though typography is an art form with a long and noble lineage, our craftspeople are aware that the primary function of type is to express meaning. Great typography links the verbal with the visual to produce effective results. Our typographical experts draw on a quarter century of experience employing the subtle and refined aspects of type craft to make each project communicate its design and textual message.
	LAYOUT Because DC Typography functions as both a production house and an imagesetting service bureau, our staff has studied and encountered the complete spectrum of desktop publishing projects. Consequently, we are uniquely positioned to put that vast array of experience to work when designing and producing all kinds of projects. We know the best, most efficient and economical ways to approach each unique graphic challenge.
	SCANNING High quality images are essential in graphic materials today. Our years of expertise in color correction, image retouching and special effects ensure maximum quality reproduction of every graphic image. Additionally, our day-to-day contact with printers using a wide array of equipment enables us to optimize each image for its particular intended use.
	EVACUATION MAPS There are particular skills involved in interpreting the massive amounts of information contained in architectural drawings and rendering the essential elements into a form that is clear, coherent and useful for evacuation maps. We have produced signage for dozens of buildings, creating crisp, clear maps that conform to industry and safety standards, and are rendered by silkscreen, engraving or color printer.
	BRAILLE TRANSLATION We are one of the few production houses in the Bay Area with the software and experience to translate text on signs and evacuation maps into Braille.
	WEB AUTHORING Our decades of prepress and graphics experience is a big advantage in our newest production arena — web site construction and site maintenance. Excellence in this new technology requires a thorough grounding in visual communication as well as familiarity with coding and software manipulation, fields in which our craftspeople excel.
